Q: How much do you charge?
A: I use a per day rate as the basis for costing jobs. Alternatively, if you provide me with a set budget I’ll provide an estimate of the type of assistance this will purchase. If you want information on this please phone or email me.
Q: Are there any hidden or extra costs?
A: In addition to consultancy fees I usually charge transport costs which include second class rail fares, taxi fares and other public transport costs.<BR>In some cases it is more cost effective if I stay over-night. If we agree this would be beneficial I will charge for dinner, bed and breakfast at a rate agreed with you. VAT @ 17.5% is added to all costs. Local authorities can reclaim this as they are exempt from VAT. Most clients prefer me to estimate my travel and subsistence costs and provide a “not to exceed” lump sum figure with my quotation.
Q: We are not sure if you can help us?
A: I am happy to discuss possible work over the phone or via email. If you think a face to face meeting would be useful to discuss potential work then I’m happy to meet up. I view these like interviews and do not charge for my time but ask you to cover my transport costs.
Q: What if we aren’t happy with the work you do?
A: I always set up meetings to monitor progress with the contract. This provides an opportunity to reflect on work to date and if necessary change the approach. The consultancy proposal will set out the deliverables and timescales and this makes monitoring progress easier. I am committed to improving the standard and quality of my work and if you were not happy with any aspect I would be keen to receive your feedback and to put things right.
Q: Can you provide references?
A: I am able to provide references if you require this. I tend to use different referees according to the type of contract under discussion.
Q: How far in advance are you booked?
A: I am usually booked 2 to 3 months in advance but can usually fit in a planning meeting within a month.
Q: Can we change the resources we download?
A: Please feel free to adapt and develop the resources but could you could acknowledge the source.
