Newcastle

I love Newcastle – Grey Street is my favourite street, the Baltic is a great place to visit regardless of the current exhibition, Fenwicks and John Lewis are great shops, the castle is fascinating, following the tourist route around the old city walls is good fun and a walk over the 2 bridges and round the quayside is a good way to blow the cobwebs away after a good night out.

Take the metro out to Whitley Bay and walk around the coast to Tynemouth. Get the ferry across to South Shields and have a wander out on the coast to have a look at the Conversation Piece – wonderful sculptures which are well worth the visit. Get the metro back into Newcastle via the south side of the Tyne.

Malmaison Hotels

I’ve stayed in Malmaison Hotels in Newcastle, Leeds and Birmingham. In Newcastle I like the rooms over-looking the Quay Side but they can be noisy. Love the style and colour schemes and the Arran Aromatics toiletries. Rooms, beds etc good too.

The Coast and Castles of Northumberland

If you visit Newcastle take a couple of extra days and explore the coast and the castles of Northumberland.
